2021 Mazda CX-30 turbo engine is loud

Quick question about my BiL's car. He just bought a 2021 Mazda CX-30 Turbo, and when you get on the gas, the engine has this specific sound to it, kind of like a triple or even a Subaru.

My wife has a 2020 CX-5 with the same engine, minus the turbo, and it's a lot quieter.

He's wondering if this sound is normal for the turbo model or if he should be worried. Any other CX-30 Turbo owners out there with similar experiences?

That sound is normal for the turbo. The turbo setup gives it a deeper, slightly offbeat tone compared to the non‑turbo CX‑5. Nothing to worry about

I've ridden in a CX-30 Turbo before, and that deeper growl is pretty normal, it's the turbo and exhaust note giving it that Subaru-like rumble. As long as there's no knocking or warning lights, he's good.

Yeah, my buddy's CX-30 Turbo does the same thing, it's just the turbo spooling and exhaust tone...pretty normal, nothing to worry about unless it gets really loud or rattly
